Stratford STEM Magnet School Library

Project Lit at Stratford
ProjectLit Community Book Club at Stratford began so students, staff, and community members could talk books.
Our students are participating in ProjectLIT Community Book Club. The goal of ProjectLIT is to increase access to high-quality, culturally relevant books and to promote a love of reading in the school and the community. Students will be reading a different novel each nine weeks. After reading each novel, students will organize and facilitate a community book club. The students will create discussion questions, trivia questions, book club agendas, and more. Parents and members of our local community are invited to attend. The books selected, such as Ghost Boys, are both high quality and high interest, so that they appeal to our diverse group of students.

The History of ProjectLit:
ProjectLit began with teacher Jarred Amato's English class project to address book deserts. You can read about his blogpost, his Twitter page, and the facebook page. There have been many newspaper articles, blogs, and presentations around the country.
